Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 April 23, 2010 David Briggs (BATON ROUGE, LA, US) Realistic game experience, a little complicated for younger players, and took some time for me to get the hang of the intricacies of the game. (I'm still learning everytime I play) Overall a good golf game. Much more challenging than the golf game on Wii Sports.
Almost as good as the real thing. March 19, 2010 M. W. Piles (SPRINGFIELD, MO, US) My kids and I love to play it. My wife loves the fact that I'm not gone for six hours or more playing real golf.
The ability to change difficulty for each player is great. Little ones will enjoy the All Play and the Arcade Games.
The putting takes some getting used to, but all in all a great game.
It's just a game..... March 14, 2010 D. Shoff (USA) Wow! Worst electronic golf experience yet! This is not a golf sim by any stretch. It's just a game. If you want to learn how to play strictly "09" this is your ticket if you can find it in a $10 bargain bin. If your looking for even a remotely real golfing experience it isn't here.
Such a waste of time and money on EA's part. They came up with gorgeous and very realistic courses and mini" games, then they made it unplayable. At best, horribly un-enjoyable.
Long shots are OK but forget any kind of truly technical shot. Draw and fade seem to have no sensitivity to wrist turn, It's either a draw or fade. No control on how much draw or fade. This is a grip-it-and-rip-it GAME. I like the whole idea of simulating swings with the controller but this isn't what I had in mind. Yeah, it's fun hitting 300 yard drives but c'mon. How about some realism controls. It's nice that my 9 yr old daughter can hit 300 yard drives but how about a play/realistic switch. If it's going to look real make it play real.
Approach shots are where it starts really going south. Don't expect any shots needing under 80% swing strength to have any accuracy. More frustration. The golf in Wii Sports Resort has way more realistic playability but still simple enough that kids can enjoy it too.
Putting is where everything other that the scenery become completely useless. The interface is the worst brain-fart I have ever seen. This is where the 1 star comes from. If you can't enjoy any of the cool new games they become instantly useless. Try taking the handlebars of your bicycle. Can you ride it? Sure! Are you going to enjoy it? I doubt it. In short, the interface is designed to take every shot at full or near full swing no matter the distance. I won't go into details of each distance. Briefly, all puts HAVE to be made at a 65% or more regular club swing. It's set up just like you are driving off the tee but you are standing on the green. Horrible!
If you enjoy real golf throw this game away now before it ruins your game. If you have kids and want to play together get Wii Sports resort and just go easy on them. I just spent a few hours on this thing and gave up. I keep reading how you "just have to get used to it". If this was the only game I was going to play the rest of my life I would "get used to it". If you want a "game", sure, once you condition yourself to it I guess someone would enjoy it. It would be the same person that likes their shooting game to aim left and below their target "just 'cuz it's more fun that way".If you enjoy a remotely realistic golf game search elsewhere.
Good luck !
Total disappointment!
Too buggy February 24, 2010 Warren Brown (Rowlett, TX USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I originally purchased "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09: All Play" for the Wii because I enjoyed the "Wii Sports" golf game, and I wanted a game where I could play more courses.
I was disappointed by the manual, since it was only about four (tiny) pages long, and it didn't cover 99% of the features of the game. The in-game help is not much better, leaving the user to figure out the vast majority of the game through trial and error (and sometimes serendipity). Fortunately, you can ignore a lot of the features and still enjoy the game.
Unfortunately, the gameplay is usually ruined by one of the myriad bugs. I won't try to list all of the ones that I found, but here are some of the highlights:
* Lockups so severe that the user is forced to unplug the Wii console
* Audio that stops and starts, or that is garbled beyond recognition
* Tournaments that are unplayable in the current season because they are listed out of order
* Tournament days that are simply skipped, with all opponents shooting a zero on every hole
* Opponents in tournaments shooting ridiculous scores, like 30 under par, or a hole-in-one on a par five hole
* Lessons that are simply impossible to complete
* Bonus items that when equipped do not increase the total bonus, even though they so did so previously
* Balls falling into the cup, but then treated as if they went out of bounds, including the accompanying two-stroke penalty
* Balls hovering five feet off of the ground (my personal favorite)
I found out later that this is nothing new for EA Sports, with other Tiger Woods titles having the same types of bugs, and often the exact same bugs.
Like any user that finds massive amounts of bugs in a software title, I contacted EA's customer support, which was no simple feat, told them about my problems, and asked four simple questions. I received one brief (three line) form-letter in response saying that if the game was not functioning properly, I could replace it under their 90-day warranty program. I responded many times over the next sveral months asking if they could actually answer my questions, but never got another response from them.
I was thinking about purchasing the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 title, but with what I now know about EA Sports' lack of quality control and complete lack of customer support, I think I'll save my money.
this is the coolest February 17, 2010 Walking In Shalom (Fort Wayne, Indiana) Love all the courses. I could never play golf due to physical hindrance but I can this
one. Feel like I am right there and my character is looking fine.
